What's the easiest way to update a template used by a Skill?

Jen

I'd like to turn 'write a proposal based on client information' into a Skill, but the proposal template will probably change over time.

Should I put the template directly in the Skill, or keep it as a separate file in Drive for the Skill to read each time?

If I'm only changing a few sections of the template, would the second approach be easier? I'd be interested to hear how others have set up similar workflows.

If the proposal procedure and review rules stay stable but the headings and wording change, put the procedure in the Buda Skill and keep the current template as a separate file in the Agent's or shared space Drive. The Skill should name the path, require the agent to read that file on every run, say how to handle missing client facts, and stop if the file is missing instead of silently using an old version. Put it in space Drive when several agents need the same template; keep it in an Agent Drive when only one does.

For example, the Skill can read proposals/current-template.md, which starts with a version and update date. When the team changes sections, edit that file, test one redacted customer proposal, and approve it before using the new version. Keep old delivered proposals with the template version they used. If the Skill is meant to be installed in other workspaces, packaging a default template alongside it is more portable, but changing the packaged template means releasing an updated package; a local Drive override can cover team-specific changes.

The custom Skill guide is a starting point. Is this one template shared by all sellers, or do different client types need different versions? The Chinese discussion covers the same choice.
