What's the advantage of Buda over, let's say, a Claude subscription

Ubuntu Productions

Hello πŸ‘‹πŸΌ

I have been loving your products since AiTable (what a pity it was abandoned, I am still surprised to this day how powerful it is) and now the time has come for me to start thinking about subscribing to an AI service. I have gone through your entire website several times and used Buda a little, but I’m not sure I understand the advantages of subscribing to Buda instead of, for example, a Claude subscription. Can you make the case for Buda? If there are significant differences, it might also be helpful to add them to your website as comparisons.

BTW: I sent you an email about a MCP server that requires AuthO to authenticate, could you come back to me about that too?

Love! πŸ’š

Thanks for following our products since AiTable. You're right that our site hasn't explained this clearly enough: Buda is a place to run an agent company.

You can give agents different roles, models and tools, each with a persistent cloud computer. In a Space, teammates or partners can work with the agents you choose to share, with separate permissions to use, edit or manage them. The Marketplace also has ready-made Skills, Agents and Teams for work in areas like engineering, marketing and sales.

A small studio, for example, might have one agent research a brief, another draft content for different channels, and a third check it against the team's guidelines. People review the work and reuse what they learn on the next project. You can start with one agent and add specialists as the work grows.

Claude is excellent when you want to work directly with an assistant, and its paid plans also have Cowork and scheduled tasks. Buda helps you organize ongoing work across agents and people; Claude can be one of the models those agents use. Buda's plans are based on Space and agent capacity, so it's worth matching a plan to the team you actually need.

Your suggestion for a clearer comparison on our website is on our list.

Hello Kelly πŸ‘‹πŸΌ

Thanks for your reply! πŸ™

  1. I think I did not send an email, but a contact though your contact form. The MCP is for WP-Umbrella, here is the documentation: https://support.wp-umbrella.com/en/articles/101-wp-umbrella-mcp-connector-install-and-use
  1. I went ahead and subscribed for a paid Buda plan, but I am having an issue, I get this error quite often:

Also when working with PenPot MCP, both the browser tab and the Desktop App get frozen in this step and I need to restart (or close the tab and open another one).

You're right, I misread the contact form submission as an email. The MCP server is WP Umbrella's, and its setup uses OAuth. We're checking your form submission and whether Buda can complete that authorization flow. I don't want to promise it works until we've tested it.

I'm sorry you've hit these errors just after subscribing. Your first screenshot shows the agent stream ending before the task finishes. In the second, PenPot's export_shape call stays pending, and you say both the browser tab and Desktop app freeze. We're looking into both symptoms; we don't yet know whether they have the same cause.

If you can, please send the affected Buda session link(s), approximate time and time zone, and the model you used through our contact form or to hi@buda.im, referencing this thread. Please don't post credentials or private client data here. I'll update this thread as soon as we know what's happening.

Quick update on the three things you raised.

PenPot freezing: we found it. PenPot's export sends the whole image back in one go, and our chat tried to format all of it as code, which locked up the tab for minutes. The fix shows the exported design as a small preview you can click to enlarge, and the chat stays usable while the agent works. It's in review now and will ship in the next Buda release.

WP Umbrella: Buda will get WP Umbrella as a built-in connection. You'll open your agent's settings, go to Integrations, click Connect next to WP Umbrella, sign in and choose which sites the agent can reach. We've tested everything up to WP Umbrella's sign-in page, but we don't have a WP Umbrella account, so once it's live I'd really appreciate it if you could try connecting and tell me how it goes.

Tasks stopping after about five minutes: we haven't found the cause yet. Everything on our side runs past five minutes in our tests, so we're now looking at the network between our services. The next release will at least tell you clearly when a long task loses its connection, keep the files the agent already changed, and keep the Retry button one click away. If you can share a session link and the time it happened (hi@buda.im is fine), it will help us find it faster.

I'll post here again when the release is out.

Hej men πŸ‘‹πŸΌ Thank you for the reports, all make sense and I am happy you are actively taking feedback πŸ€—

I asked the chat why it was happening and almost got it right πŸ˜ƒ Amazing!

A way to Open AuthO authentication on a browser tab as any other app would be great! πŸ‘πŸΌ

Tasks stopping after about five minutes

At some point it stopped happening, but it started happening something worse in my opinion. When I finally decided to subscribe and continued with my workflow, I run out of credits like in 30 minutes πŸ˜… the free version was better at this πŸ˜‚ then I topped up with 5€, and they lasted 5 minutes... What's going on??? πŸ™ƒ I redesigning a website in PenPot.

It's the first time I subscribe to anything AI related. After my credits were drained I finally subscribed to Claude, connected it to VS code, and I will do test to see how much more run gives me.

I'm sorry your credits ran out so quickly, especially right after you subscribed and topped up. A PenPot redesign can involve many agent steps: model calls, MCP tool calls, and large results from an export. That could raise usage, but it does not tell us whether the €5 top-up was charged correctly. We need to check the actual entries rather than guess from how long the task ran.

You can watch this yourself in Space Settings β†’ Credit Usage. It shows your daily, monthly, and topped-up balances and the usage history as the Agent works; this guide explains the view. Please check the entries around the PenPot session and the top-up. We can identify your Space from this report, so you do not need to send payment details or a Space ID. To match the charges to the right task, please email the affected Session link and approximate time with time zone to hi@buda.im, referencing this thread. A screenshot of the relevant usage rows is helpful, but please do not include card details, passwords, or API keys.

We'll compare those entries with the model and tool activity, including any repeated attempts or charges while the task was stuck, and explain what consumed the credits. If we find a billing mistake, we'll address it. Please do not top up again just to reproduce this. The browser sign-in flow for WP Umbrella and the PenPot chat-display fix have been merged but are not live yet; I'll update you when they are. The earlier roughly five-minute disconnection is still being investigated separately.

Update: the fixes are live in Buda v1.32.1 (release notes). Please refresh your browser tab so it loads the new version.

PenPot: a big exported image no longer freezes the chat. It shows as a preview you can click to enlarge, and you can keep typing while the agent works. If you still see the tab hang on export_shape, please tell me.

WP Umbrella: it's now a built-in integration. Open Settings, pick your agent, go to Integrations, find WP Umbrella and click Connect, then sign in to WP Umbrella in the popup and authorize. You need a WP Umbrella account with at least one connected site. I described a site selection step earlier based on WP Umbrella's guide, but I haven't seen their sign-in screens myself, so what you see may differ a little. Could you try it and tell me how it goes?

Tasks stopping after about five minutes: this release does not fix that, because we still haven't found what cuts the connection. What it changes is what you see when it happens: a clear message that the connection dropped, your files kept, and the Retry button one click away. If it happens again, a session link and the time (hi@buda.im is fine) is the most useful thing you can send.

Thanks for your patience.
